Good Afternoon AGO Members!

Hope you all had a wonderful and safe Holiday weekend! We are looking forward to starting our 51st season in June at Zellwood, followed by our annual awards banquet.

We had a very successful 2020-2021 season despite the ongoing Pandemic and have added many new members. Remember there is a $25 referral bonus for each member that signs up with AGO!

Below is some important information for our upcoming season:

First, we would like to welcome Paul Stachelek and Jon Rodeffer to our board! Both Larry Oakley and John Ingram have stepped down after many years of service to AGO but will continue to play in our events.

For those who may not know, your AGO Board meets by Conference Call the Tuesday after each tournament to discuss everything from the course, course staff, check in, scoring, pace of play, any concerns that were brought up by any member, discuss and plan future events, and anything else regarding AGO and the recent tournament. Everyone’s input is appreciated and accepted and discussed. Select Board members also play a committee round at the tournament course usually 1-2 weeks prior, to check course conditions, meet with the staff, finalize all tournament items, and discuss any issues such as drop areas, ground under repair, proper tee markings etc.

For the 2021-2022 season, we are introducing a few changes, starting in June at Zellwood:

  • We are expanding the number of flights to 5 flights, to better level the flights more evenly and make them more competitive.
  • We are eliminating the Low Gross award for each flight BUT will be expanding Low Net awards to 5 places. Approximately 30% of participants will flight prizes.
  • We will be updating the handicap calculation to match the new WHS handicap system. With this new calculation, you will notice that all course handicaps are a little lower than before, any will now comply with the WHS Changes introduced in early 2020.
  • We will stop requiring separate cards for the Net Skins game. Our Tournament Software is working well, and by entering the hole-by-hole scores after the tournament, the software can identify the skins winners automatically, without manually checking all the cards to ensure they matched the tournament scorecards. It will also verify and report on Gross Skins as well.

** we still recommend keeping your own score, to make sure your tournament scorecard is correctly done. **

Also, coming up later this year, there will be some changes to the signup process, as our software vendor retires the current Signup application. More information will be coming as soon as the new signup method is rolled out and the process can be tested.

Other aspects of our league will continue as before, such as the AGO Cup Points standings with the top 10 places earning prizes, and the No-See-Um game will resume again in February. 50/50, CTP, and Blind Bogey games, as well as optional games (Gross Skins, Net Skins, Par3, Additional 50/50 tickets) will all continue.

Other Important Reminders:

  • Please check in at the tournaments BEFORE you go to the practice range. We would really like everyone checked in by 8:00am for the 8:30am start.
  • Continue to CLEARLY print the score on the card you are scoring, PRINT your name as the scorer, and CONFIRM and TOTAL the GROSS SCORE, HDCP, and NET SCORE.
  • Please make sure you are receiving all of our emails, and check for them regularly, as it is the primary communication used for all AGO communications. Be sure to check your junk or spam folders and ensure agogolfers@outlook.com is marked as allowed or a safe sender.
  • Signup Cutoffs are the TUESDAY before the tournament. Be sure to have signed up by then, and if you pay by check, that we receive it by the cutoff date.
  • If you sign up and are unable to make it, please call, email, or text any board member, or email agogolfers@outlook.com, prior to the tournament, or prior to 8am on the day of the tournament. If you text any of the board members, be sure to provide your name in the text.
  • Remember to visit our website – www.agogolfers.com – for all information and updates. The Recent News page is updated regularly with important info, signup and pairing info, handicaps and results.
  • Also be sure to log in to the member portal on the website. There, you can view all your scores, enter other non-AGO rounds you play, see your handicap and handicaps of the others, and will also soon see results from the tournament software. You can also download the Golfsoftware.com app in the Apple Store or Google Play, and you can access the portal direct from your phone. There are directions on our website, or see Michael at the tournament.
  • Members will continue to receive the $25 referral fee for every new member that you refer who joins AGO. Be sure the new member puts your name on the signup application.

If anyone has any questions, please let us know. We hope to see you all at Zellwood on June 27th. Thanks,

Your AGO Board.
