MLB The Show 26 May Spotlight Program Rewards and Pack Drop 3 Analysis
Free Offline Grinding: May Spotlight Drop 3 Program Rewards
If you've played previous drops this year, the layout here will feel very familiar. It is a standard, offline-friendly 50-point track. You can easily knock this out by checking off the new Moments (worth 4 points each), chipping away at standard PXP missions, and locking in your Topps Now collections.
Here is what you are getting along the path:
  • 10 Points: 91 OVR Topps Now Brandon Sproat (SP) – If you love raw power on the mound, Sproat is a fun depth piece. He boasts a 99 Velocity stat paired with a 92 Pitching Clutch and a solid 92 K/9. His 71 Control is definitely on the shaky side, so you'll need to be careful with your inputs, but the heat is real.
  • 20 Points: 92 OVR Topps Now A.J. Ewing (2B/SS) – Commemorating his first big-league home run, this card offers some nice early-game utility up the middle, specifically carrying a 97 Contact Right stat.
  • 30 Points: 2,500 XP.
  • 40 Points: May Spotlight Drop 3 Pack – A completely free gamble at the premium pack items.
  • 50 Points: 94 OVR Spotlight Nick Kurtz (1B) & 2,500 XP – This is the crown jewel of the free track. Kurtz is your classic "Big Dog" power bat, featuring a massive 109 Contact Right. He is definitely a liability in the field, but his vicious swing makes him an elite, free Designated Hitter option as the season's power creep starts to ramp up.
Shop Analysis: May Spotlight Pack Drop 3
If you head over to the Show Shop, the premium pack will run you 25,000 stubs. Every pack guarantees you a 92+ Diamond player, with a 1-in-4 shot at landing one of the top-tier 94 OVR cards.
Here is how the player pool shakes out:
CardOVRPositionMarket Analysis & Meta Standing
Aaron Ashby94RPThe prize of the drop. He is arguably a top-tier meta relief pitcher right now. He brings a deep 5-pitch mix spearheaded by an Outlier Sinker, a 108 Pitching Clutch, and a maxed-out 99 Break. Elite left-handed bullpen arms are incredibly hard to come by this early, making him the standout target.
Daylen Lile94LF/CFA very speedy outfielder who absolutely crushes right-handed pitching. His fielding leaves a lot to be desired, but he serves as excellent fodder for grinding out Nationals Team Affinity.
Henry Bolte92CFA respectable budget-tier outfielder with great speed and helpful athletic quirks.
Yohendrick Pinango92LFA base-tier pull. He won't make most competitive squads, acting mostly as affordable collection fuel.
Rodolfo Durán92CA cool card celebrating his first MLB hit after spending 11 years in the minor leagues. He features decent hitting attributes for a catcher if you are thin at the position.
Strategy & Verdict
Skip the Pack, Buy the Cards
At 25,000 stubs a pop, buying this pack from the shop is a massive gamble. With the base-tier 92 OVR cards like Henry Bolte quickly settling down around the 5,000-stub mark on the marketplace, you are looking at a heavy loss on your investment unless you luck out and pull Ashby. If you desperately need that elite left-handed arm for your bullpen, skip the slot machine and buy Aaron Ashby directly from the marketplace.
Always Grind the Program
Even if none of the free players crack your God Squad, you shouldn't skip this program. These weekly tracks are essential because you will need these cards to complete the upcoming May Lightning Program (dropping June 5th) and the broader Retro Lightning collections.
The most efficient way to finish this is to build a dedicated offline squad entirely made of Topps Now and Spotlight players. Take them into standard offline modes, hunt for strikeouts to max out your PXP, and you'll clear the 50 points passively without even realizing it.
Double Up with the Conquest Map
To maximize your time, make sure you cross-grind your program missions inside the concurrent May Flowers Conquest Map. Knocking out the map gives you even more rewards, including a free 93 OVR All-Star Jim Rice and a repeatable 20-pack Show Bundle to help restock your stub balance and inventory.
