Introducing the Patek Philippe Calatrava 7007G-010: A White-Dialed Masterpiece Embodying the Italian Tricolor
Every flag needs a serene stripe. Unveiled at the Grand Exhibition in Milan, the new Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 7007G-010—one of seven limited-edition models reserved for the Italian market—represents that very white stripe. A time-and-date model, it joins the red Ref. 7047G-010 Minute Repeater and the green Ref. 7147G-010 Perpetual Calendar to complete the tricolor motif of the Italian flag. With a production run of 200 pieces, it is the most numerous of the three and perhaps the finest example of how Patek Philippe can create such a rich array of timepieces through a minimalist design philosophy.
What do you need to know about this watch? Housed in an 18K white gold case measuring 38mm by 9.97mm, this is the slimmest of the three Calatrava models in the series. Its white lacquered dial boasts a deep, lustrous quality—reminiscent of enamel rather than paint—while retaining the Calatrava collection's signature embossed carbon-fiber texture and modern Arabic numeral hour markers. Functionally, the watch offers hours, minutes, seconds, and a date display. It is water-resistant to 30 meters.
Patek Philippe rarely employs such a subdued color palette; this restraint lends the watch a composed elegance unmatched by the other complicated models in the collection. It is fitted with an alligator leather strap and a matching pin buckle, featuring special stitching near the clasp that pays homage to the colors of the Italian flag. This timepiece is powered by the self-winding caliber 26-330 SC, which operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and offers a power reserve of 35 to 45 hours. This movement is identical to the one found in the Aquanaut Ref. 5167A-014, which was unveiled concurrently at the Milan exhibition. It features a silicon balance spring paired with a Patek Philippe Gyromax® balance wheel and is equipped with an anti-backlash mechanism to ensure the smooth, stable motion of the central seconds hand—demonstrating that even a mature design benefits from a relentless pursuit of perfection. The sapphire crystal case back bears the inscription "Patek Philippe MILANO 2026" to commemorate the 2026 Grand Exhibition in Milan.
The concept of wearing an entire flag—with a different watch representing each stripe—is a compelling one. While the minute repeater is limited to five pieces and the perpetual calendar to one hundred, the white model is relatively more accessible; its production run of 200 pieces is quite generous by the standards of such exhibitions.
The most striking aspect of this watch is its exquisite craftsmanship. In time-only Calatrava models, Patek Philippe’s dial artistry shines most brilliantly, as there are no extraneous elements to distract the eye. With its 9.97mm-thick case, in-house self-winding movement, and a dial featuring a remarkably deep white lacquer finish, this timepiece serves as a reminder of where Patek Philippe truly excels: in the mastery of understated elegance.
